How Do Stem Cell Anti-aging Skin Care Products Work?

Our skin is the largest organ of our body and reveals both our external appearance and internal health. With recent medical discoveries and advancements in regenerative health in skincare, there has been a growth in attention and more comprehensive examinations of how aging impacts skin health. These have allowed for more targeted and extensive treatments to be developed that focus on the intricate microcellular processes beneath the skin’s surface layers. Many dermatologists have tested for and supported the efficacy of stem cells for skin rejuvenation, and subscribe to their superiority over non-stem cell products. It can’t be denied that combining these topical stem cell applications with additional facial care procedures like laser light therapy, plasma-rich platelets, and micro-needling can significantly 

enhance the outcome, recovery time, and long-term effects of including stem cells in skincare. It has been evidenced that a diet rich in antioxidants can stave off oxidative stress, and skincare products consisting of retinol, ceramides, and growth factors can aid in the laxity and stretchiness of the dermis.

Stem cell skincare are often incorporated into serums, creams, masks, and treatments that work to address common skin concerns like acne scars, fine lines, sagging, and uneven skin tone. In a clinical test conducted by certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ziv Peled, patients were measured using a cream designed by cosmeceutical brand CALECIM® Professional. The results that he noted showed that they experienced enhanced skin tone, fullness, and lifted features, regardless of age or skin type, leading to high satisfaction levels even after the trial period.

Another study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology has tested the efficacy of a cream from the same skincare line, testing the brand’s patented ingredient, called PTT-6®. The compound is derived from mesenchymal stem cell culture, a form of stem cell that can differentiate into structural cells, including those found in the dermal layer of the skin. These mesenchymal stem cells are essential for renewal and repair, and aid in maintaining tightness in elasticity in the skin. Application of the PTT-6® ingredient increased the response of the human dermal fibroblasts by 56% and hyaluronic acid by 83%, demonstrating significant improvements in skin tone and increased proliferation of human dermal fibroblasts, underscoring enhancement of skin elasticity and fullness.

In essence, stem cell growth factors like PTT-6® do more than just add ingredients to the skin; they activate a positive response within the dermal layers, facilitating efficient repair and renewal akin to that of younger skin types. These kinds of products offer a transformative approach to skincare, where skin behavior can be greatly influenced in order to reverse unwanted and deteriorating behaviour, and instead support and reactivate regenerative functioning as an anti-aging weapon.
