5 Indian Sarees Draping Styles One Must Try to Woo Everyone:

All across India, starting from North to South, there are different staples of sarees worn by women. Sarees are draped in different styles, reflecting the sense of ethnicity to which they belong. Because the fact that saree as a garment is versatile and can be modified into many drapes, let’s dive into these plain draping styles:

    • Nivi Style Drape

If you are new to draping any saree, I recommend starting with draping from the primary and classic styles. This style is commonly known as open pallu or seedha pallu draping style. The Indian sarees draping is, to date, considered a skill that women master. If you have a plain saree, match the saree blouse so the look stands out through contrasting colors or designs.

A Nivi style can be draped by forming simple pleats in front and tucking them neatly inside, further draping the pallu on the shoulder and keeping it open. Make sure that while keeping an open pallu the length of the pallu is shorter so that the saree does not touch the floor. This is one of the traditional ways of draping a saree and has always stood the test of time.

    • Dhoti Style Drape

With Indian sarees gaining height globally thanks to the fashion industry and Bollywood popularity, many modifications have given rise to a fusion between saree and dhoti, curating a perfect style of dhoti drape. For a dhoti drape, choose a flowy saree fabric such as mulmul cotton, katan silk, or mulberry silk so that it can be molded, keeping the comfort prior. You can choose an embroidered, embellished saree blouse or a brocade with a dhoti-style drape.

    • Pant Style Drape

If you want a trendy, movable, and chic style, the pant drape style has you covered. If you are a person who has tried the classic style of wearing Indian sarees and still feels uncomfortable, this drape solves your worries. For the pant style drape, you drape the saree pleats over a pant and tuck it into the half side, showcasing the other half through the pants. This style has gained popularity in Indian sarees and gives you an utterly unconventional look.

    • Gujarati Style Drape

Another traditional and classic draping style that one must try for plain Indian sarees is the Gujarati style drape. This draping style comes with a twist as you have to form pleats of your pallu and draw those pleats from the back through the shoulder to the front and form a V-shape style shoulder down. This style is worn during festivity as it makes the saree blouse stand out. Choosing a blouse with a heavy and intricate design to flaunt in this drape.

    • Belted Style Drape

One of the common styles of drape that is popular among social media handles is the belt-style saree. Plain Indian sarees with plain saree blouses can be draped with a contrasting belt. You can drape the saree in an open pallu style or tie neat pleats of pallu over the shoulder and then add a dazzling contrasting belt to the attire. The whole outfit will shine and become fashionable by adding an element of the belt to the saree.

I hope these styles of draping Indian sarees have lured you to at least try one for the next event or function you are about to attend. Remember even a simple plain saree if styled and accessorized smartly can change the whole look of your outfit. Choose a plain saree and drape it to reflect your comfort, style, and personality. Happy Draping!
